Blister machine BLU 200
Blister machine BLU 200
The BLU 200 is a blister machine for the packaging of parenteral products such as syringes, ampoules, vials, cartridges, bottles, and pens in clamp packs or sealed blisters. Careful handling of the products is essential when packaging parenterals. Other key requirements are high productivity resulting from fast cleaning and changeovers, as well as ease of operation.
If the blisters are sealed, the BLU 200 can mark the lid foil after sealing. Innovative technology, such as the rotation mechanism at the end of the blister machine, permits utilization of the full web width. If required, the filled blisters are turned 90° so they are correctly positioned for transfer to the Cartoner C 200, which accurately inserts them into the cartons.
A gentle handling process when packaging parenterals pays off because every damaged product leads to extra cleaning, additional work, and longer downtimes. The fewer the breakages, the higher the productivity. Easy cleaning and fast format changeovers are also time-saving factors. The cantilever design offers good visibility and, in combination with smooth surfaces, enhances accessibility and the uncomplicated cleaning of the BLU 200. Only a few format parts have to be exchanged – without the need for any tools – to change over to a different product. Fully automated adjustment of the various stations follows. In addition to a good price-performance ratio, the overall operating costs of the BLU 200 are low.
An added feature is straightforward machine control using the future-oriented Uhlmann SmartControl operating system. It has a state-of-the-art, clear, and uniformly structured interface. SmartControl allows process-oriented user guidance and ensures optimal user experience. The result is intuitive user navigation with reliable and efficient processes.
The C 200 from our cartoner portfolio is perfectly geared to the Blister machine BLU 200 – not only technically, but also in terms of applications and price. A maximum carton size of 180 x 250 x 105 mm makes it ideal for large blisters and special parenteral product formats. It also easily matches the BLU 200 as far as flexibility is concerned: the Cartoner C 200 has a dual product feeder with two loaders. This permits the handling of products in cartons up to 85 mm wide at a maximum output of 200 cartons per minute. The C 200 packages larger blisters at a speed of 120 cartons per minute.
It is also flexible when it comes to closure and marking: the Cartoner C 200 can emboss and print, namely on both closing ends. All types of tuck-in and hot-melt closure are possible. Similar to the Blister machine BLU 200, the concept of the cartoner focuses on the gentlest possible product handling and low waste – important criteria for the cost-efficient packaging of parenteral products. Exemplary features are smooth product removal via a chute and event control at the blister transfer. Activation of the cartoning process first takes place when a blister stack is complete. This enables the Cartoner C 200 to attain high efficiency and quality levels – combined with a particularly cost-effective price-performance ratio.
The LiPro feeder is a flexible feeding system for fragile receptacles such as vials, cartridges, and ampoules. LiPro stands for “liquid product” because the servo-regulated system is specifically designed to handle parenteral products. Ampoules, vials, cartridges, or bottles are gently conveyed on a vibratory plate to the pick-up position, where a pneumatically driven slider distributes the products evenly. After being guided into lines by a rake, the products move into the slots of the separating roller. By turning 90 degrees, the roller brings the products into a horizontal position. A robot with vacuum suction cups picks the products from the separating roller and accurately places them in the formed cavities. In the case of clamp packs, the press-in station eases the products into the pack. The LiPro feeder is designed to handle the products as gently as possible and avoid breakage, while maintaining high speed and efficiency.
Before easing the products into place in clamp packs, the BLU 200 monitors correct product positioning. Only then are the parenteral products pressed alternately into the pockets. The two-stage press-in function requires less force, thus reducing the risk of product damage.
The SyPro feeder – short for “syringe product” – uses vacuum suction cups to carefully place syringes, with or without a needle guard, in blisters. Glass or plastic syringes suspended in a single lane are transported to the feeding unit. The products are then moved in a guide elbow. This bring them in a horizontal position ready for placement on a continuous-motion prism conveyor. A swivel-arm robot fitted with vacuum suction cups subsequently lifts the syringes from the conveyor and accurately places them in the formed cavities. Manual depositing of the syringes or accessories is an optional alternative.
Excellent price-performance ratio, high productivity, and low operating costs promote easy entry into the packaging of parenteral products.
Feeders and packaging processes are specifically engineered to handle fragile parenteral products such as syringes, ampoules, vials, cartridges, bottles, and pens
